History of Shell in Ireland

The history of Shell in Ireland dates back almost a hundred years when the company set up its first headquarters in Ireland at Alexandra Road, Dublin. At the same time, Shell built the country's first bulk terminal at Foynes, Co. Limerick, while their Belfast office was opened in 1922. Since 1997, their operations in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have been integrated on an all island of Ireland basis.

The exploration and production business and, specifically, the development of the Corrib natural gas project, is a key part of Shell’s operations in Ireland. Shell's other businesses in Ireland – aviation fuel, bitumen and chemicals - also continue to operate. Shell operate from their offices in Corrib House, 52 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2.
